Job summary

Sienna Senior Living's Barnswallow Place Care Community in Elmira is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide compassionate nursing care to residents. You will work under the Director of Care to implement the resident plan of care and maintain high standards of comfort and dignity.

As part of a supportive team, you will supervise care staff, communicate with residents' families, and participate in ongoing assessment and care planning.

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation or senior health is an asset.
• Good judgement and ability to identify risk; fosters positive work environment.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care per policy, orders, and resident care plan; within RPN/LPN scope.
• Deliver excellent nursing and personal care using sound nursing practices.
• Create a welcoming, supportive environment through teamwork and communication.
• Oversee resident care; communicate with residents and families; guide staff.
• Supervise Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members on the unit.
• Admission, readmission, changes in status; provide ongoing resident assessments.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Registered Practical Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents.

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of an RPN/LPN.
• Utilizing sound nursing practice principles, ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care
• Creating a welcoming and supportive environment for the residents through teamwork and effective communication with staff
• Overseeing resident care, including regular communication with residents and their families, and providing guidance to staff
• Supervise the Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members assigned to the unit
• Admission, readmission, and change in status, and provide ongoing assessment to the residents

Who you are

• A Registered Practical Nurse in good standing the Ontario College of Nurses
• An asset is having experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and/or senior health industry
• You have good judgement, the ability to identify risk and can foster a positive work environment
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
