Job summary

Brockville General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a surgical services float, primarily in the operating room and PACU. You will provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced surgical setting, aligned with CNO standards and unit protocols.

You will maintain competence through ongoing education and participate in quality assurance activities. Onsite ACLS/BLS/PALS training is provided to support clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• RN registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Post-anaesthesia care nursing course required.
• Post-degree operating room course required.
• IV certification required.
• BCLS required and maintained.
• ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
• Critical care experience within last two years preferred.
• Knowledge of ORNAC/OPANA/NAPAN standards of practice required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in the surgical services unit within nursing standards (CNO).

Position summary

Reporting to the program manager, the registered nurse in the surgical services unit is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care to a patient or group of patients. The provision of such nursing care is expected to be within the standards of nursing practice (CNO) and the standards of the nursing unit.

The registered nurse is expected to maintain competence and skills through on-going participation in provided continuing education and will be able to demonstrate proof of such participation. The registered nurse actively participates in CNO quality assurance program.

The registered nurse participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Brockville general hospital believes in strongly supporting staff to help them proceed. We offer onsite training for advanced cardiac life support (ACLS, basic life support (BLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS).
