Covenant Health Canada is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The RN will provide patient care for neonates, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure family-centered care principles are upheld. This role involves conducting assessments, administering medications, and facilitating education for families. The RN in the NICU provides safe and competent patient care for neonates at various stages of their stay. The RN uses family-centered care principles to care for sick neonates and actively participates in patient care decision-making within a multidisciplinary team during rounds. The RN encourages and facilitates parental participation in care, maintains neonates in respiratory distress requiring support or ventilation, and has extensive knowledge to initiate and support breastfeeding for at-risk newborns. The RN processes orders efficiently, communicates effectively with team members, and reports changes promptly via appropriate channels and Connect Care.
The Registered Nurse (RN) conducts assessments, implements care plans, administers medications, evaluates treatments, and monitors patient responses. Acting as an advocate, coordinator, and liaison, the RN collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to identify needs and set priorities. The RN facilitates education, discharge planning, and may serve as a charge nurse. Responsibilities include providing care according to standards and Covenant Health policies, aligned with the Mission, Vision, and Values. This position is governed by the UNA Collective Agreement.
Required: Graduate of an RN program, active CRNA registration, Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C). If not practicing in last 5 years, completion of CRNA Medication Administration and NextGenU Health Assessment Certification courses is required.
Additional: Recent acute care experience required.
Preferred: Experience in Level 2 or 3 NICU, NRP certification, NICU Prep course, neonatal certificate or equivalent.
