Job summary

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Labrador Health Centre nursing team. You will maintain professional standards and support care across medical-surgical, obstetrics, mental health, and pediatrics with emphasis on coordination and safety.

The role requires graduation from a recognized nursing program, CRNNL licensure, CPR/BLS certification, and relevant certifications. Preference given to those with NRP/ACLS/TNCC or Medevac experience.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an approved nursing program.
• Current CRNNL license required.
• Breastfeeding course/education completed.
• NRP, ACLS, TNCC and Medevac courses are assets.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Certificate of conduct required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and evaluate care for medical-surgical, obstetrics (pre-natal, labour and delivery, post-partum), mental health/addictions and pediatrics.
• Participate in auditing processes as required.
• Document according to professional and organizational standards.
• Administer medications and participate in Medication Reconciliation.
• Mentor and precept staff during orientation.
• Represent nursing on committees as required.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives as requested.
• Practice independently per professional and organizational standards.
• Act as liaison between clients and other healthcare providers.

The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to patients of the Labrador Health Centre. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
• Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
• Breastfeeding course/education.
• NRP, ACLS, TNCC and Medevac courses are considered an asset.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
• The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

• Organizing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for assigned clients including but not limited to: medical-surgical, obstetrics (pre-natal, labour and delivery, post-partum), special care, mental health/addictions and pediatrics.
