Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a part-time, temporary Registered Nurse for the Critical Care department. The role focuses on health promotion, assessment, and treatment of critically ill adults (and occasionally children) during the critical phase of illness, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and interprofessional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Nurses registration.
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience.
• Critical Care Certificate.
• Current BCLS.
• Current ACLS.
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals.
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills.
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice.
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects.
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education.
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.

Responsibilities

• Promotes health and assesses care provided to critically ill adults and occasionally children during the critical phase of illness.
• Reports to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy and collaborates with the care team to ensure patient safety and optimal function.
