Job summary

Brightshores is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Critical Care unit in Owen Sound. The role focuses on assessing and delivering critical care using supportive, preventative and therapeutic methods to critically ill patients.

You will work under the Critical Care department, ensuring high standards of patient safety and quality care. This full-time position requires an Ontario RN registration, a CCU certificate, and current BCLS, ACLS, with PALS or willingness to obtain within a year.

Qualifications

• Ontario RN registration is required.
• Minimum 3 years of recent Critical Care experience.
• Critical Care Certificate is required.
• Current BCLS, ACLS; PALS or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and emergency responsiveness.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with patients and staff.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
• Participates in reflective practice with the College of Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to critically ill adults (and some children) in the critical care unit.

REASON TO POST: NEW POSITION

WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the registered nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of the provision of care of and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critical ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may return to, attain, or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Critical Care Certificate
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
