Job summary

Brightshores is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care department in Owen Sound. You will focus on assessment, monitoring, and treatment of critically ill adults (and occasionally children) during the acute phase of illness to help patients regain or maintain function.

You will report to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, and contribute through excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration with the care team while pursuing ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience required.
• Ontario College of Nurses registration is mandatory.
• ACLS and BCLS certifications required; PALS or willingness to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for critically ill adults (and occasionally children) during acute phases of illness.
• Report to Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy.
• Demonstrate leadership, communication, and collaboration with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
• Participate in staff meetings and unit-specific projects.
• Maintain continuous professional development and reflect on practice.

REASON TO POST: NEW POSITIONWAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the registered nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of the provision of care of and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critical ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may return to, attain, or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Critical Care Certificate
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
