Job summary

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre's Cardiac Care Unit is a 7-bed inpatient unit with private rooms, highly specialized and equipped to care for patients with serious cardiology conditions that require advanced monitoring.

As the Registered Nurse you are a professional caregiver responsible for providing quality patient care within RVH's delivery model, in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BCLS is required
• ACLS is preferred, must obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire
• Critical Care certificate preferred
• CC1 and CC2 required and must complete critical care certificate within 2 years
• Membership in a professional nursing association is encouraged
• Computer literacy in current software applications is expected
• Commitment to professional growth and continuous quality improvement

Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient care within the delivery model and in accordance with RVH policies and standards
• Care for patients in the Cardiac Care Unit with advanced monitoring and interventions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient and family-centered care
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement and customer service

The Cardiac Care Unit is a 7-bed inpatient unit with all private rooms, highly specialized unit staffed and equipped to care for patients with serious cardiology conditions that require advanced monitoring and or interventions. The CCU is a multidisciplinary health care team that works with patients and their loved ones as they arrive to the unit. The multidisciplinary CCU team, including cardiologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and other allied health professionals that work collaboratively to provide excellence and high quality patient and family centered care. As the Registered Nurse (RN) you are a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and all relevant legislation.

As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:

• Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BCLS is required
• Current ACLS is preferred, must obtain ACLS with in 6 months of hire
• Critical Care certificate preferred
• CC1 and CC2 required and must agree to complete critical care certificate with in 2 years
• Must pass a screening arrhythmia quiz obtaining an minimum of 80% to move onto interview phase.
• IABP experience preferred
• Additional formal educational requirements/certifications as required in department
• Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area
• Computer literacy in current software applications
• Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others
• Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service
