The Opportunity

Location: Coldbrook, Nova Scotia

Type of Employment: Regular, Full Time

Salary: $50.83 per hour as per IBEW Collective Agreement Local 1928

We are looking for a Regional Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Planning Supervisor, you will join a team of professionals at our Coldbrook location.

Key Elements Of This Role Include
  • Making effective decisions regarding field investigation, scoping, estimating, interfaces, and documentation for customer service, capital work, and line extensions.
  • Planning and coordinating operational, maintenance, and construction activities efficiently using computerized software.
  • Coordinating job planning with customers, other departments, outside agencies, and contractors to optimize resources and minimize service interruptions.
  • Conducting distribution feeder inspections, line inspections, scoping capital projects, providing cost estimates, and supporting work crews technically.
  • Potentially being assigned to other locations and traveling throughout the province.
  • Processing job orders and ensuring compliance with NSPI standards and billing procedures.
  • Participating in regulatory and on-the-job training to develop skills.
  • Ensuring personal and co-worker safety by adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Rules.
  • Managing environmental performance related to the environmental management system.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
  • Flexibility to work throughout the Western Territory and in other areas, with residence within 30 minutes of the headquarters for emergency response.
  • Willingness to take on a rotational standby schedule.
Skills and Qualifications for Success
  • Grade XII education or equivalent; Powerline Technician Certificate with experience or Electrical Engineering Technologist with relevant experience.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with planning software.
  • Adaptability, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills.
  • Project management experience handling multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of NSPI operations, contracts, and utility equipment is desirable.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with at least two years of driving experience and a satisfactory driving abstract.
  • Consideration for an Apprenticeship Program for qualified candidates with relevant education.
