Job description

NVA Canada is looking for Regional Medical Director. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the veterinary community.

Reporting to our National Medical Director (NMD), in this role you will collaborate with hospital teams and operational leaders to execute strategic initiatives, promote clinical excellence, and enhance the experience of veterinary professionals. From advancing standards of care to facilitating professional development and mentorship, your contributions will support our mission to deliver exceptional outcomes for patients, clients, and teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Advance Quality of Care: Collaborate with hospitals to evaluate and improve medical practices, including the development of a quality-of-care framework and ensuring consistent implementation of standards. Support hospital teams in aligning with established protocols and best practices.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Partner with the NMD to maintain compliance with provincial veterinary regulations. Conduct compliance audits and work with teams to address gaps and sustain regulatory alignment.
  • Support Hospital Operations: Partner with Managing Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (MDVMs) and operations teams to apply tailored strategies for hospital success. Participate in regional and national events to foster community engagement.
  • Doctor Attraction and Retention: In partnership with the NMD, People and Recruiting Teams, work to develop initiatives to foster a sense of belonging and satisfaction among veterinary professionals.
  • Facilitate Learning and Development: Empower teams through meaningful training and development opportunities. Coordinate mentorship programs and facilitate peer-to-peer support networks.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Help develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and support hospital teams in achieving their goals.

What You’ll Bring to NVA Canada

  • 10+ years of clinical experience
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited school
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in Canada
  • Proven leadership and management experience
  • Strong understanding of veterinary regulations and standards of care
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel within the region (approximately 30%)
  • French language skills are an asset (but not required)
  • Collaboration: Build strong relationships with hospital teams and leadership.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Anticipate challenges and develop solutions.
  • Organizational Skills: Effectively manage workflows and prioritize tasks.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Uphold the highest standards in veterinary care.
