Job summary

Economical Insurance in Canada is seeking an experienced Commercial Auto Underwriter to assess, underwrite, and price moderate to complex risks including fleet and garage accounts. You will work closely with brokers to negotiate terms, analyze risk with inspections and financial reports, and contribute to profitable portfolio growth.

The role involves mentoring junior team members, participating in production meetings, and delivering exceptional service while maintaining underwriting

Qualifications

• University degree or a college diploma or CIP designation is required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years Commercial Automobile Fleet & Garage underwriting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Professional friendly and courteous in all interactions, with both customers and co-workers.
• Performs well in a busy environment and remains calm under pressure.
• Team player adaptable to a changing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem solving abilities.
• Strong sales orientation.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain positive broker relations.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, underwriting, and pricing moderate to complex commercial automobile risks, including fleet and garage business.
• Conducts risk analysis using inspections, financial reports, and other underwriting information within authority.
• Collaborates with brokers to negotiate terms and develop relationships for profitable portfolio growth.
• Mentors junior team members and participates in production meetings while delivering exceptional customer service.
