Job summary

Economical, part of Definity, seeks an Underwriter for Global Services in Canada. You will assess complex risk, negotiate, and build relationships with brokers to drive profitability and growth. Hybrid work is available, with an emphasis on in-person broker engagement and cross-selling opportunities.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or college diploma and at least six years of underwriting experience in commercial lines, with strong communication and analytical capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
• Six years of underwriting experience with commercial lines.
• Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory environment, and local market.
• Strong critical thinking to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Cultivate relationships with INI partners and brokers to fulfill sales plans.
• Meet brokers in person to market and cross-sell Definity products.
