Definity’s Economical group seeks an experienced Commercial Automobile Underwriter to assess, underwrite, and price mid to complex risks including fleet and garage business. You’ll analyze data, inspect reports, and negotiate terms with brokers to support profitable growth while delivering outstanding service.

Requires a university degree or CIP designation and 2–3 years in commercial auto underwriting, plus proficiency in Word/Excel and strong communication.

Qualifications

• University degree or CIP designation required.
• 2–3 years Commercial Automobile Fleet & Garage underwriting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional, friendly, courteous in all interactions.
• Thrive in a busy environment and stay calm under pressure.

• Ability to develop and maintain positive broker relations.

Responsibilities

• Assess, accept, and decline moderate to complex new submissions within authority.
• Underwrite, re-underwrite, and negotiate renewals and endorsements.
• Order inspections, financials, and other info for risk analysis.
• Negotiate terms with brokers in writing or verbally.
• Participate in production calls and mentor junior staff.
• Support brokers with technical underwriting expertise.
• Contribute to profitable portfolio growth and broker relationships.
