Job summary

The City of Kelowna is seeking a part-time Recreation Technician to support events, programs and recreational initiatives at Parkinson Recreation Centre. You will maintain records, assist with planning and promotions, and help with facility operations and equipment setup.

Responsibilities include customer service, volunteer coordination, and basic maintenance of fitness equipment. A flexible schedule and varied hours are expected in this role.

Qualifications

• High school graduation required; related one-year post-secondary certificate.
• BC Driver's License – Class 5.

Job description

A Recreation Technician provides support for various events, programs and recreational initiatives provided by the City.

Duties - Union

• Maintains a variety of computerized records, databases, systems, schedules, bookings and rentals, using standard and specialized software.
• Updates and maintains a variety of manuals, forms and documents.
• Responds to public inquiries and works cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
• Interacts with the public, community groups, contractor instructors, volunteers and staff regarding programs, activities, tournaments, special events, and facility and field rentals.
• Purchases and maintains an inventory of program supplies and equipment.
• Under the direction of a Coordinator, assists with recruiting, training, and evaluation of registered volunteers and instructors.
• Opens and closes facilities; sets up/takes down equipment for programs, activities, tournaments, and special events (i.e. tables and chairs, net systems, AV equipment, etc.)
• Assists with the planning and delivery of programs, activities, tournaments, and special events, including preparation of promotional material.
• Performs basic maintenance and repairs on weight room equipment.
• Under the direction of a manager, assists with the creation, implementation and public awareness of City activities, programs, and events.

Results and Activities - Non union

• High school graduation plus a related one -year post-secondary Certificate.
• BC Driver's License – Class 5

Pay Rate

Pay Rate $34.14 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits
