City of Kelowna is seeking a Lifeguard/Instructor for the Aquatic Services division. The role focuses on guarding patrons, delivering swimming lessons, and maintaining a safe pool environment at Parkinson Recreation Centre.

Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

A Lifeguard/Instructor guards patrons, ensures a safe environment and instructs various aquatic courses.

Duties - Union

  • Instructs swimming lessons, develops lesson plans, courses and programs
  • Guards the public while they swim and ensures safety
  • Evaluates students and writes progress cards
  • Receives, records and responds to inquiries and complaints
  • Responds to all first aid situations
  • Ensures the pool, pool deck. Facilities and pool equipment are clean and properly used and stored
  • Trains new lifeguard staff and provides leadership and direction
  • Prepares a variety of documents, drawings, advertising and spreadsheets using various computer programs
  • Provides ideas and input into brochures and advertising

Results and Activities - Non union

Pay Rate

Pay Rate Starts at $24.47 per hour plus 14% in lieu of statutory holidays, vacation and benefits.
