Job summary

BGC Okanagan invites applications for a part-time Program Area Leader to support Recreation Programs for children, youth and families at our Vernon club. You will help plan activities, supervise daily operations, and liaise with partners to deliver quality programming.

The role offers a supportive team culture, ongoing professional development, childcare discounts, and a comprehensive benefits plan. Hours are 12 per week, Tue–Thu 1pm–5pm, with a pay rate of $19.82/hour.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in recreation or related field.
• Valid First Aid certificate.
• Criminal Record Check required (Agency screening).
• 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain.
• Class 4 Driver's Licence or willingness to obtain immediately.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities and events for the program.
• Oversees day-to-day program operations, facilities, and licensing requirements.
• Makes recommendations on program development, policy, and evaluation.
• Promotes the program through promotional materials and community events.
• Liaises with community partners to coordinate referrals and external representation.
• Maintains records and reports as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
• Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
• Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and program evaluation.
• Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
• Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.
• Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Qualifications:

• A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services.
• Valid First Aid certificate
• 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain
• Class 4 Driver's Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
• Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations

Rate of Pay: $19.82 per hour
