Job summary

LASIK MD in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Receptionist to warmly welcome patients, direct them to the waiting area, and manage calls and scheduling. You will update patient records and ensure smooth front-desk operations in a fast-paced ophthalmology clinic.

The role offers a permanent full-time schedule (35-40 hours/week), potential Saturday shifts, and benefits including quarterly bonus, paid time off, group insurance, telemedicine, and RRSP matching.

Qualifications

• English proficiency is required.
• Experience as receptionist or medical secretary preferred.

Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome patients and direct them to the waiting room.
• Manage clinic mail, phone lines, and voicemails; call patients to confirm appointments.
• Update medical records and appointments software after patient arrivals/departures.
• Manage inventory and maintain clinic aesthetics and cleanliness when needed.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinic management.

The wage range for this role is $21.03 - $24.18 p/hr

Your tasks at a glance

• You warmly welcome patients and direct them to the waiting room, ensuring that new patients complete the questionnaire to add to their files.
• You handle mail, clinic phone lines, and voicemails, and make sure to call patients to confirm their appointments.
• You are responsible for updating the medical records and appointments software after each patient's arrival and departure.
• You manage inventory and ensure the aesthetics and cleanliness of the clinic when needed.
• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

A clear view of your assets

• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• You have experience as a receptionist, medical secretary, or administrative assistant in a doctor's office AND/OR have strong customer service/patient care skills.
• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You stand out for your organizational and collaborative skills as well as your ability to work with minimal supervision.
• You especially thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and when you work as part of a team.
• You have an interest in the medical field and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
• Schedule: You have flexible work availability Monday through Friday with a start time of 7:00 AM, as well as Saturdays on a rotating basis.
• Required: You are willing to occasionally help other partnering clinics in the GTA according to operational business needs (planning & expenses covered by Vision Group).
