Job summary

LASIK MD in Winnipeg, MB is hiring a Receptionist for a permanent full-time position (approx. 33-40 hrs/week) to greet patients, manage calls, and maintain records in a fast-paced ophthalmology clinic.

The role involves patient check-in, appointment confirmation, and support for risk management, with a focus on teamwork and exceptional customer service. Eligible for bonuses, benefits, and Insurance through Vision Group network.

Qualifications

  • Experience as receptionist, medical secretary, or administrative assistant in a doctor's office.
  • Strong customer service/patient care skills.
  • Comfortable with computers and Microsoft 365; EMR systems are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and direct them to the waiting room; ensure new patients complete questionnaires.
  • Handle mail, clinic phone lines, voicemails, and call patients to confirm appointments.
  • Update medical records and appointments software after each patient arrival/departure.
  • Manage inventory and maintain clinic aesthetics and cleanliness as needed.
  • Identify and report patient safety concerns to support Risk Management.

Your tasks at a glance
  • You warmly welcome patients and direct them to the waiting room, ensuring that new patients complete the questionnaire to add to their files.
  • You handle mail, clinic phone lines, and voicemails, and make sure to call patients to confirm their appointments.
  • You are responsible for updating the medical records and appointments software after each patient's arrival and departure.
  • You manage inventory and ensure the aesthetics and cleanliness of the clinic when needed.
  • You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.
A clear view of your assets
  • You have experience as a receptionist, medical secretary, or administrative assistant in a doctor's office AND/OR have strong customer service/patient care skills.
  • You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
  • You stand out for your organizational and collaborative skills as well as your ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • You especially thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and when you work as part of a team.
  • You have an interest in the medical field and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • Schedule: You are available to work Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, with Saturdays on rotation.
