Job summary

Umbrella Family is seeking an RECE Before and After Educator in Hamilton, Ontario. This permanent, part‑time role involves 27.75 hours per week with a schedule that spans mornings and afternoons, at MountviewCentre.

The wage is $28.90 per hour, within a supportive, team‑oriented early childhood setting that emphasizes child development and family engagement. You will develop and implement programs meeting developmental needs, supervise activities, provide healthy snacks, and ensure children's

Responsibilities

• Greet children and families with warmth and professionalism.
• Support children's transition from home to program and promote self‑regulation.
• Engage children with meaningful activities using a programming cart of materials.
• Provide morning snacks and ensure hands are washed and food is prepared safely.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor play and support children's interests.
• Monitor behavior and provide guidance to children as needed.

Total Hours per Week

27.75hours per week, includes 1.5 hours programming time

Schedule

Monday to Friday,6:45AM to 9:00AM and 3 :00PM to 6:00PM or 7:00am to 9:00am and 2:45pm to 6:00pm

Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants)

$28.90per hour

About the Role

As an RECE Before and After School Educator, your primary responsibility is to be present for children and their families while developing and implementing programs that meet their developmental needs and interests. You will create meaningful play experiences, provide healthy snacks, supervise outdoor and indoor activities, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.

Duties vary by centre, but your role always includes supporting children, assisting colleagues, and contributing to a welcoming and well-organized environment.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) and member in good standing with the College of ECEs


• Related experience in a childcare setting


• Demonstrated knowledge and working ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance


• Demonstrated knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?


• Experience in program planning and implementation for JK/SK and school-aged children


• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills


• Flexibility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and schedules

Key Responsibilities
