In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Regional Manager of Quality, Long-Term Care and Assisted Living, the Quality Resource Coordinator is a contributing member of the Department's Quality Resource Team and will participate in processes that determine both Departmental operations and strategic objectives. To facilitate operationalizing the Long-Term Care Quality Framework, the Coordinator may provide coaching and mentoring to Long-Term Care home staff on key quality improvement initiatives (e.g., falls prevention, wound care, dementia care).
The position is geographically nimble and will work throughout the region and, potentially, across the Health Authority. Travel is a requirement of the position. Transportation arrangements must meet Island Health's operational requirements in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three (3) years' recent, related experience in Long-Term Care including one (1) year' experience in a supervisory or leadership role or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge and experience with quality improvement, Long-Term Care, and/or infection prevention and control preferred. Relevant certification also preferred such as Gerontology Nursing Certificate (GNC) or equivalent, Quality Improvement or Change Management certificate. Valid B.C. Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
