Dufferin Concrete & Dufferin Aggregates, A CRH Company, are currently hiring Quality Control Technician (Lab) Summer Students for the 2025 construction season!


Contract Length: 4 months (May 20, 2025 - August 29, 2025)

Location:

The Quality Control Technician (Lab) Summer Student role is an entry-level position involving activities to maintain the quality management system, perform, coordinate, and report testing. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the student will help meet customer needs by ensuring high product quality through testing concrete and its raw materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Sampling and testing asphalt mixes and aggregate raw materials to ensure compliance with plant and job site regulations and standards.
  • Performing general asphalt or aggregate lab duties to ensure efficient sample processing.
  • Maintaining, analyzing, and interpreting test data, and recording daily results.
  • Operating and calibrating equipment, including preventive and general maintenance.
  • Adhering to OH&S policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assisting in contract specification reviews and mix design submissions to clients as needed.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a College or University Engineering, Technologist, or Technician program.
  • Basic knowledge of asphalt and aggregate materials and testing procedures.
  • Willingness to work in a Plant/Field/Lab environment.
  • Flexibility to work nights, overtime, and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a focus on customer service.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to work outdoors, with exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise.
