Job description

Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is seeking a Quality Analyst (Manual Tester) to work with the Indio Software Engineering Teams on solutions for Commercial Lines. In this role, you will develop test cases, ensure timely completion of testing, and provide insights about issues or defects to ensure timely resolution. You will partner with software engineering teams to prioritize testing tasks and provide valuable feedback and expertise to support the delivery of high-quality software applications.

What You’ll Do
  1. Develop test cases, execute testing, and maintain accurate records of issues/defects.
  2. Collaborate with the team to complete testing activities within established timeframes and in alignment with established testing processes.
  3. Research and identify root causes of issues, in partnership with the technical team.
  4. Complete testing and close assigned tasks in internal systems.
  5. Ensure environments and test data are appropriate.
What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

  1. In this role, you will need to collaborate with the Software Engineering Team in the Pacific Time Zone.
  2. Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office.

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in a Quality Analyst role, preferably working with software engineering teams to build cloud-based software applications.
  2. Advanced experience testing web applications.
  3. Practical experience with API testing tools like Postman.
  4. Familiarity with testing tools such as Xray or TestRail.
  5. Practical knowledge of databases such as SQL Server.
  6. Fundamental understanding of microservices and cloud-based technologies.
  7. Practical experience reviewing and analyzing logs to validate functionality and identify potential defects.
  8. Proven ability to define test cases and prioritize to ensure the quality of each release.
  9. Proven technical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and research abilities.
  10. B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  1. Familiarity with Automation test tools Playwright or Selenium Ruby is a plus.
  2. Figma experience to review new designs and plan testing/create cases.
  3. Jira (as bug tracking system).
  4. Experience with DevOps (Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
  5. Experience with User Stories.
  6. Experience with Agile frameworks, ideally Scrum Sprints using tools like Jira and Confluence.
  7. Insurance industry exposure.
