Qualifications

We are seeking a passionate Protection Application Specialist to lead strategy for our Protection Relays, be a key part of our Switchgear proposals, and grow Siemens protection upgrade solutions. You will ensure stakeholder acceptance, working closely with Business Development and Proposal Management to develop, launch, and maintain innovative solutions that meet customer needs and drive market growth.

What will you do?

  • Develop and execute product strategy aligned with Business Unit goals.
  • Partner with Innovations, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams to promote Protection relays, automation products, and grow market share.
  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for our products.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and partners to drive product adoption.
  • Influence end users and consultants to include Siemens Protection relays in specifications and project scopes.
  • Develop white papers to raise awareness of Siemens Protection & Automation Solutions.
  • Understand protection philosophy, standards, and devices to create value propositions for system upgrades and retrofits.
  • Select appropriate Protection and Automation devices based on customer requirements.
  • Provide market feedback for product improvements.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred).
  • 2-3 years of experience with protection relays, meters, and communication protocols.
  • Good understanding of substation environments, including LV, MV, HV Switchgear, Transformers, etc.
  • Ability to interact as a subject matter expert with customers and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in analyzing electrical schematics, network topologies, and architecture drawings.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols—IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC101/3/4, OPC.
  • Knowledge of Protection Systems and Secondary Distribution Automation Solutions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with other Protection Relays (Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in French is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.
