Job Summary:

Seeking an Applications Specialist for Solid Round and Insert Cutting Tools. Responsible for account management, generating new opportunities, understanding customer needs in metalworking, and educating customers, prospects, and distributors about GWS Tool Group's products and capabilities. Must effectively communicate customer needs back to the team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Schedule appointments, review customer applications, and identify opportunities.
  • Conduct sales presentations and meet customers physically daily.
  • Liaise between the company and customers regarding pricing, service, and product launches.
  • Develop prospect accounts and increase revenue through distribution channels.
  • Update customers on product modifications and enhancements.
  • Attend departmental meetings to stay updated on products and procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism and portray the company positively.
  • Attend conferences and trade shows.
  • Utilize marketing data and sales tools to maximize effectiveness.
  • Organize and participate in joint sales calls with distributors.
  • Prepare sales and marketing reports and manage expense accounts.
  • Maintain customer account information for future sales.
  • Provide product quotes with support from inside sales.
  • Ensure follow-up with complete customer profile information.

Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years in manufacturing, focusing on Milling, Turning, Grooving.
  • Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in assisting customers with part processing and application of tools.
  • Job shop experience preferred.
  • Experience in designing special tools and processing customer parts from drawing to final product.
  • Account management experience; ability to develop new customers.
  • Degree in sales or marketing highly regarded.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Outgoing personality with strong people skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player capable of working under pressure.
  • Knowledge of business aspects and discipline through education and experience.
  • No supervisory responsibilities; focus on developing functional contribution.
  • Use existing procedures to solve standard problems and analyze information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to travel.
