Major Responsibilities:
  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.
  • Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.
  • Supervises the day-to-day operation of all assigned staff including scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work. Authorizes and coordinates vacation and overtime requests. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments, hears grievances, and recommends disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring expenditures are controlled within approved budget limitations.
  • Contributes to planning and implementing upgrades, new releases, new functionality, and deployment of Enterprise Applications Systems to new business units.
  • Prepares documentation detailing processes followed in Enterprise Applications Systems and assists in establishing policies and procedures for these processes.
  • Monitors and administers Business Cases, Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Provides suggestions and advice to management on emerging technology trends and guidance on various Enterprise Applications Systems technology roadmaps.
  • Assists other areas of the City including Agencies, Boards, and Commissions in their implementation of Enterprise Applications Systems Solutions.
  • Participates in planning and developing short and long term work packages.
  • Participates in annual internal and external audits.
  • Analyzes performance indicators and standards for the section to measure operational effectiveness, customer satisfaction, and to establish employee objectives. Monitors customer service feedback as appropriate.
  • Provides analysis and input into work estimates and status reports for sponsors, managers, and senior management teams.
  • Supports the implementation of Enterprise Applications in City divisions, including projects affecting entire City operations and specific Agencies, Boards, and Commissions, through new implementations or upgrades.
  • Ensures corporate standards are maintained in Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with division personnel by providing advice and guidance on the use of Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Provides support in resolving issues or barriers in the operations of Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Participates on project teams requiring technical expertise and leadership in areas involving Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Supports the unit's operations related to Enterprise Applications Systems maintenance.
  • Advises Divisions, City Agencies, Boards, and Commissions on issues related to Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Ensures the integrity and security of City's confidential data, records, reports, and sensitive information in accordance with corporate policies and SAP standards.
  • Analyzes business needs, identifies best practices through analysis, validation, and documentation of business and system requirements.
  • Organizes and assists in workshops to formalize designs, modifies, and creates business processes used to implement business transformation solutions.
  • Participates in IT initiatives following the systems development life cycle (SDLC) approach, managing all phases from initiation to maintenance of Enterprise applications.
Key Qualifications:

Your application for the role of ERP Application Specialist should describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-secondary education in computer science or an approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Extensive experience integrating data from multiple sources, including databases, cloud services, and third-party APIs, to ensure seamless data connectivity.
  • Considerable experience with Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric, identifying and gathering business requirements to build data-driven analyses of performance, financials, risks, & KPIs.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving data modeling and visualization issues to ensure performance and data accuracy.
  • Experience developing optimized data models, DAX calculations, and queries for efficient reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secure data practices, including data security in transit and at rest through storage solutions, access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI or Fabric licensing models is an asset.
  • Experience with other analytics tools like SAP Analytics Cloud or Tableau is an asset.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and familiarity with tools like Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or SSIS.
  • Knowledge of various on-premise and cloud data exchange connections (e.g., OData, Salesforce, Google, SQL databases).
  • Solid grasp of ETL processes, data cleansing, and performance optimization for large datasets.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting and writing documents for clients.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
  • Advanced time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to develop technology standards, techniques, and product specifications.
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends as required.
  • On-call support ability for production systems.
