Job summary

Intact Insurance Company in Toronto is seeking a Claims Specialist on our Property Large Loss team to investigate, quantify, analyze, adjust and settle complex property claims, including those over $200,000. You will manage mid to complex first-party claims across multiple channels.

Your experience includes 5–7 years handling personal and commercial property claims, strong customer service and proven negotiation skills. A university degree and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 5–7 years of experience handling personal and commercial property claims.
• Strong customer service, written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, goal oriented and able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Investigate relatively complex commercial and personal lines property claims in a timely and respectful manner.
• Handle field tasks on behalf of telephone adjusters.
• Provide superior customer service to external and internal customers and answer queries.
• Document the claim file with reports and statements from involved parties to determine coverage.
• Analyze information, interpret policy wording, determine coverage and assess damage.
• Within authority, negotiate with customers, claimants, lawyers and insurers to settle claims.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance products and appraisal/investigation processes.
