Job description

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, PMO, the Project Planner & Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed schedules to evaluate, plan, and manage projects. This position ensures project schedules are continuously developed through stage gate phases, representing an accurate and achievable plan with stakeholder inputs and operational requirements. Additionally, it supports the Portfolio Planning & Reporting Analyst in Owners Team Workforce plans, including Time Tracking for the overall portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain study, project execution, and commissioning schedules aligned with the overall project portfolio.
  2. Perform analyses of baselined schedules for risks, critical path, and earned value management.
  3. Coordinate project-specific schedule risk assessments to support Study & Project Managers and risk owners.
  4. Establish high-level project timelines, milestones, deadlines, and resources during project intake and portfolio planning.
  5. Provide input into study and execution plans, incorporating approved plans into the project schedule.
  6. Track, review, and incorporate schedule changes (e.g., design, scope, procurement delays) and report as per governance frameworks.
  7. Contribute to establishing scheduling standards and best practices in line with organizational manuals.
  8. Evaluate third-party contractor schedules and perform schedule audits.
  9. Monitor actual progress versus planned progress and KPIs, providing exception reports and recommendations.
  10. Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement to develop procurement tracking lists for long lead equipment.
  11. Support portfolio schedule forecasting for at least three years, issued quarterly.
  12. Provide project timeline overviews to Project Managers.
  13. Facilitate cross-functional planning and reviews of schedules prior to gates and baselining.
  14. Review in RFP processes, including SOW development and Technical Bid Evaluations.
  15. Perform quality assurance on schedules and reports, rectifying risks and non-conformances.
  16. Identify and monitor interdependencies between projects to support portfolio strategies.
  17. Develop schedule layouts and reporting structures for stakeholder needs.
Your Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering Technologist with 3-5 years in a heavy industrial process setting.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills for data management and scheduling.
  • Over 3 years’ experience in project management on large and maintenance projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in developing best practices, facilitating knowledge sharing, and aligning project objectives with organizational goals.
  • Strong systems-level thinking and change management skills.
  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making, business intelligence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
