Job description
Major general contractor is seeking a Scheduler / Planner for current opportunities in Vancouver and Toronto locations. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role. Using your expertise in construction as a Scheduler, your first challenge will be to review current practices and processes and prepare a strategic plan to improve the existing system of planning and scheduling for our ICI construction projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that project teams are in compliance with the system and utilizing the established procedures aimed at reducing risk and improving project quality.
The Planner / Scheduler will:
Develop and maintain consistent and realistic schedules for projects.
Develop the activities, logic, resource loading and progress to provide a fully integrated project schedule, leading to the creation of the baseline schedule and its subsequent maintenance throughout all phases of projects (submittals, approvals, procurement, construction, testing, start-up and commissioning).
Develop cash flows and resource loaded schedules, based on project estimates and master schedule.
Interface/maintain liaison with project management, owner, subcontractors, etc. on all planning and scheduling related items and functions including reporting requirements, progress status, new impacts, etc.
Support the Project Management Team in maintaining timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
Have the ability to work across 3-4 projects simultaneously.
Required Education and Experience of Planner / Scheduler
A minimum of 5 years of previous scheduling experience.
Advanced knowledge of scheduling software/core standards including previous experience using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
A comprehensive understanding of construction logic, procurement sequences, fabrication shop load requirements, and construction techniques.
A Degree in Project/Construction Management or Engineering, or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
Previous construction experience working with a General Contractor on ICI/Buildings projects, infrastructure or industrial.
