Join a purpose-driven, winning team committed to results within an inclusive and high-performing culture.

To ensure our purpose remains central, we have renamed the role to Financial Planner under Scotia Financial Planning (formerly 'Investment Specialist' in the Mobile Advice Team). Join a purpose-driven, winning team committed to results within an inclusive and high-performing culture!

As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You are entrepreneurial, understanding that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships. You leverage external networks and centers of influence and appreciate the freedom to grow your own practice. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your priority is to help them meet their goals with tailored investment and financial planning advice.

You excel at building new relationships and enjoy the flexibility to meet clients outside the office, on a schedule that suits both parties. You also value working within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits both your clients and your practice overall.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and acquiring new clients, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance, and regulatory requirements. You will also establish business development opportunities within your assigned market area.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Promote the growth of proprietary investment business in your market by:

  • Business Development: Executing business development plans for prospects and existing clients, identifying new investment opportunities, and facilitating the implementation of solutions or referrals.
  • Client-Centric: Providing client-focused investment solutions through a financial planning framework, conducting outbound communications, and performing needs analyses across financial statements.
  • Community Involvement: Participating in local professional and community events, delivering seminars, building your market profile, and networking with industry specialists while managing a small marketing budget.

Do you have the skills to succeed? We’d Love To Work With You If You Have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Current MFDA licensing and accreditation, such as Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course.
  • Completed a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Proven networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, including building Centers of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented and entrepreneurial, able to work independently and within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, regulatory environment, and competitive offerings.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings within your district.

What’s in it for you?

  • An entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • A flexible, fast-paced work environment with self-set hours and client meetings.
  • A compensation structure rewarding client growth and retention.
  • Access to advanced resources, including marketing support, mobile technology, CRM, and financial planning software.
  • Opportunities to build lasting client relationships through exceptional service.
  • Collaboration with branches and Scotia Global Asset Management for an exceptional client experience.
  • A diverse, respectful, and inclusive work culture.

Other Information

• Compensation is base plus variable pay. This is a mobile role requiring frequent travel.
