1 temporary (36 month) position available within our Customer and Channel Experience team.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a strategic, driven, and collaborative Project Director, Online Services and Digital Workstream to lead one of the most visible and impactful components of our multi-year Claims Journey to the Cloud transformation. This role is responsible for delivering an intuitive and accessible digital experience for claims customers through the modernization and redesign of our online services.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Customer and Channel Experience, and with a dotted-line relationship to the Vice President, Claims Transformation, the Project Director will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of the digital and Service Design workstreams. This includes close coordination with Claims Transformation team, IT partners, vendors, and impacted groups to ensure alignment with our human-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and program outcomes.

This role will lead a team of Product Managers, Service Designers, Design Researchers, and UX Analysts - working closely with workstream leads across the program to ensure a cohesive, end-to-end transformation. The ideal candidate brings strong project leadership skills, expertise in digital product delivery and service design, and a passion for improving public service through modern, human-centered design.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage project resources and vendors regarding their commitments to the program/project by clearly articulating their roles and responsibilities. This includes monitoring and evaluating their performance on a regular basis and taking corrective actions such as development plans as appropriate if and when required.
  • Manage project activities throughout the project lifecycle by:
    • Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
    • Developing full-scale project plans, project charters, and associated communication documents to report project progress, providing frequent verbal and written progress reports on the status of projects, and providing action plans or recommendations on project deployment to project sponsors.
    • Estimating the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
    • Proactively managing changes in project scope as well as risk and issue management, identifying potential crises, and devising contingency plans.
    • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring project budgets to ensure that there are no costs or resource overruns, as well as tracking project milestones and deliverables to ensure project requirements are achieved in a timely fashion and within budgetary guidelines.

Report on project milestones and risks/issues to Project Sponsors and consult with them on new initiatives that will impact strategic direction.

Provide highly detailed complex analysis to facilitate management decision-making. Prepare and present analysis, conclusions, and recommendations to Executive Committee and/or Board of Directors, and sub-committees as required.

Provide guidance and mentoring to project team members. Monitor and control assignments of staff and carry out quality reviews of work efficiency based on project management plans.

Job Requirements:
  • Education requirements:
    • University Degree with specialty in required area of expertise (e.g., Business, Commerce, Accounting, etc.)
    • MBA preferred
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and applicable designation/certification(s) in required area of expertise.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years management experience; 15+ years management experience and experience in required area of expertise preferred.
    • Highly experienced in actively managing projects through their lifecycle, maintaining tight control over scope, schedule, and cost.
    • Ability to develop a comprehensive future vision with clearly identified high-value opportunities.
    • Effective communication skills to create buy-in around investments based on benefit, risk, and cost understanding.
    • Ability to influence executive decision-making and drive accountability in a matrix environment.
    • High political acumen, diplomacy, negotiation, and mediation skills to engage key stakeholders with competing interests.
