Crafty Penguins is growing our team! We are hiring a full-time Linux Systems Specialist - Senior to collaborate with our growing team and serve our expanding customer base.

This role requires you to creatively solve technical problems and develop and maintain strong relationships with customers. Willingness to learn and adaptability are essential.

We are a Linux, Open Source, DevOps, and Kubernetes consulting company that utilizes various tools to assist clients across many industries in areas such as server support, infrastructure design, cloud management, data backups, network security, disaster recovery, and more. We are a team united by trust, big-picture thinking, embracing challenges, and continuous improvement.

Crafty Penguins is based in Lethbridge, Alberta; however, this position is fully remote.

  • Advanced knowledge of Linux-based operating systems
  • Advanced networking knowledge
  • Low-level debugging skills for Unix and IP networking
  • Experience with RHEL or Debian Linux distributions
  • Experience with container workloads and tooling (LXC/Docker/Podman)
  • Knowledge of Linux hypervisors (KVM, Xen/XCP-ng, Proxmox)
  • Scripting skills in Bash and Python
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Linux consulting or contracting
  • Experience with ticketing systems like ConnectWise
  • Performance tuning and clustering of Linux databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite)
  • High-level networking skills (VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols)
  • Software development experience
  • Certifications (AWS, Azure, K8s, RHEL, etc.)
  • 2-year technical diploma or higher (CIS or CS)
