Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Site-based Project Coordinator to support daily construction activities under the supervision of the Project Manager. You will help manage schedules, document control, and coordination with trades on commercial/institutional projects.

The role targets early‑career professionals with a construction degree and a willingness to learn, grow responsibilities, and work on a dynamic team within a safety‑conscious culture.

Qualifications

  • Completed or currently pursuing a post‑secondary degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or architecture.
  • Experience in a construction or project support role is an asset.
  • Strong communication, organization and time‑management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and execution of the project schedule under the Project Manager.
  • Organize and maintain site files and documentation with electronic systems.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, logs and purchase orders.
  • Support review and tracking of subcontractor and supplier progress payments.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subs, and suppliers on design changes and notices.
  • Participate in project meetings and record accurate minutes for action items.

Project Coordinator (Site)

As a Site‑Based Project Coordinator, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting daily construction activities while working closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and trade partners. This role is designed for early‑career professionals seeking exposure to site operations, construction technology, and real‑world problem‑solving in a fast‑paced environment.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Assists with the preparation and execution of the overall work plan and project schedule under the direction of the Project Manager
  • Organizes and maintains project site files and documentation, including electronic document management systems and shared file platforms
  • Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date project documentation, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, document logs, and purchase orders
  • Assists with the review and tracking of subcontractor and supplier progress claims and payment documentation
  • Liaises with architects, consulting engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding design revisions, RFIs, RFQs, change notices, and general project coordination
  • Prepares for and participates in project meetings with the project team, consultants, and trade partners
  • Records, prepares, and distributes accurate meeting minutes in a timely manner
  • Assists with project close‑out activities, including deficiency coordination and final document turnover to the client
  • Maintains awareness of project progress, risks, and issues and escalates items to the Project Manager as required
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the project team as needed to support successful project delivery
What We Are Looking For
  • Completed or recently completed post‑secondary degree or diploma in a construction‑related discipline (Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or equivalent)
  • Internship, co‑op, or early‑career experience in a construction or project support role is considered an asset
  • Strong interest in working in a site‑based environment on commercial and/or institutional construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and basic contract documents with guidance
  • Effective team player with strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office; exposure to MS Project, SharePoint, or construction management software considered an asset
  • Client‑focused mindset with the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Self‑motivated with a strong willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow into increased responsibility
