Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the York Biofuel Facility project in East Gwillimbury, Ontario. You will assist the Project Manager and Site Superintendent with coordinating construction activities, documentation, planning, and field execution on a site-based role.

Ideal candidates will have a diploma or degree in a related field, 2–5 years of hands-on experience, and Last Planner System proficiency to help schedule look-ahead and weekly plans while maintaining

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in engineering, construction management, architectural technology, or a related field is an asset.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience as a Project Coordinator or in a similar construction role.
  • Hands-on experience with the Last Planner System, including pull planning, look-ahead planning, weekly work planning, and constraint tracking.
  • Experience coordinating requests for information, shop drawings, submittals, change orders, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Experience on industrial, process, environmental, renewable energy, or waste-management projects is an asset.
  • Experience working in an Integrated Project Delivery or other collaborative project environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, site‑based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager and Site Superintendent with the coordination and execution of construction activities.
  • Support the Last Planner System, including pull-planning sessions, look-ahead schedules, weekly work plans, constraint tracking, and follow-up on commitments.
  • Coordinate requests for information, shop drawings, submittals, change documentation, and information required by trade partners and suppliers.
  • Assist with project schedules, budgets, cost reports, progress tracking, billing, and subcontract administration.
  • Participate in subcontractor progress meetings and monitor planned activities against actual completed work.
  • Support project start-up, document controls, construction logistics, procurement planning, and project execution plans.
  • Coordinate with consultants, trade partners, and the VDC team to support constructability, logistics planning, and clash resolution.
  • Proactively identify and help resolve issues that may affect safety, quality, cost, schedule, or productivity.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the client, consultants, trade partners, suppliers, and internal project team.
  • Support deficiency tracking, turnover documentation, warranty activities, and project close-out.

Project Coordinator Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will support the delivery of the York Biofuel Facility in East Gwillimbury, Ontario. Working closely with the project team and trade partners, they will coordinate project documentation, planning, controls, and field execution. Hands-on experience with the Last Planner System is required. This is a site-based position in East Gwillimbury, Ontario.
