Job summary

Bird Construction in Tiverton, Ontario is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the Project Manager and Superintendent, coordinating safety, quality, admin, scheduling, cost controls and client/sub-contractor communications on commercial and institutional projects. This role is based out of Tiverton.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in a project support role, strong MS Office/MS Project skills, and a proven ability to read contract specs, drawings and other construction documents.

  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office; SharePoint a plus.

  • Assist with preparation and execution of overall work plan and schedule.
  • Organizes and maintains project site files and documents; manages document database.
  • Maintains up‑to‑date documents for drawings, plans, submittals and logs.
  • Reviews subcontractor/supplier progress applications and payments.
  • Liaises with architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers on contract notices and design changes.
  • Prepares and participates in meetings with project team and stakeholders.
  • Prepares and distributes meeting minutes in a timely manner.
  • Assist with final document turnover to client at project completion.
  • Coordinate deficiencies and keep project status updates.
  • Provide other technical office support as required.

Job description

Project Coordinator The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent and will be responsible for coordination of all production requirements including but not limited to safety, quality, administration, scheduling, cost controls, client/sub‑contractor/craft communication and management. This position will be based out of Tiverton, Ontario.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Assists with preparation and execution of overall work plan and schedule.
  • Organizes and maintains project site files and documents; manages electronic document database and/or file sharing site.
  • Maintains up‑to‑date, accurate documents for the project including drawings, plans, submittals, document logs, purchase orders, etc.
  • Reviews subcontractor/supplier progress applications and payment certificates.
  • Liaises with architects, consulting engineers, subcontractors and suppliers regarding contract and change notices, design revisions, RFIs, RFQ, etc.
  • Prepares and participates in meetings with project team, architects, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Prepares and distributes accurate and detailed meeting minutes in a timely manner.
  • Assists with providing final document turnover to client at completion of project.
  • Coordinate deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Maintains project awareness in order to keep Project Manager and others informed about status and potential project issues.
  • Provide other technical office support as required by project team.
What We Are Looking For
  • 3‑5 years of experience in a project support role, preferably with an ICI General Contractor or subcontractor.
  • Experience with project controls, financial management, LEMs, cost tracking and forecasting.
  • Experience working on commercial and/or institutional projects from start to finish.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract specifications, drawings and other construction documents.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Project; experience with SharePoint is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize workload and stay on top of things as the project demands increase.
  • Client service and customer focus in order to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers.
  • Self‑motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged.
