Project Coordinator - Civil

As an Intermediate Project Coordinator in our Civil division, you will have the opportunity to support our Project Managers in the delivery of heavy civil and industrial-type projects. This role will be based in Trail, BC. The focus of your role will be to maintain contract documentation, support estimating, and assist with the preparation of budgets and schedules. We work on a variety of contract types, such as Design-Build, Plan and Spec, and Construction Management, and you will gain experience in all of these.

The career path for a Coordinator is to become a Project Manager, where you will oversee your own projects. The pace at which this happens will be up to you.

The purpose of the Coordinator's role in supporting the Project Manager is to help ensure that a profit is made on the project, that the work is performed according to the contract documents, that the project is completed with outstanding quality, and that the job site remains a safe workplace.

In doing so, you will be involved in:

  1. Participating in heavy civil and industrial type projects.
  2. Assisting in preparing budgets and construction schedules, setting up project administration files.
  3. With direction from the Project Manager, initiating and maintaining correspondence with Owner, Architect, Engineers, sub-trades, and suppliers.
  4. Gaining an understanding of how to select suppliers and sub-trades and obtaining quotations.
  5. Assisting with and/or clarifying scope of work with sub-trades and suppliers.
  6. Developing successful relationships with current and prospective clients, consultants, realtors, and developers.
  7. Ensuring there is a continuous focus on site safety in accordance with regulatory requirements as well as our Corporate Health and Safety Policy.
  8. Attending site meetings and assisting in the completion of project deficiencies.
  9. Closing tenders in consultation with senior managers.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year or more experience as a Project Coordinator in the construction industry.
  • A University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a combination of education and industry experience.
