Jacobs & Thompson is seeking a Production Coordinator to support daily manufacturing operations in Barrie. The role involves forecasting, planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to meet customer demand and delivery commitments.

You will serve as a central link between Production, Customer Care, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Procurement, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in production coordination, planning, scheduling, inventory control, or similar role in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows, capacity planning, inventory management, forecasting, and MRPs.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, across departments and shifts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast, plan, schedule, and coordinate daily production activities to meet demand, targets, and delivery timelines.
  • Develop and maintain rolling production forecasts based on demand, inventory, capacity, and lead times.
  • Create and adjust production schedules for changes in priorities, demand, material availability, and delays.
  • Monitor production progress, schedule adherence, identify issues and take corrective action.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Engineers to optimize resources, capacity, workflow, and allocation.
  • Maintain accurate production records, orders, work instructions, schedules, and documentation.
  • Coordinate daily production priorities to ensure high-priority orders are completed on schedule.
  • Review upcoming requirements for capacity constraints, bottlenecks, or equipment availability prior to scheduling.
  • Coordinate between shifts to support handoffs and clear priorities.
  • Coordinate schedule changes due to downtime, quality issues, material shortages, staffing changes, or interruptions.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Inventory Control to ensure material availability and monitor thresholds.
  • Support MRP/ERP planning by maintaining accurate production requirements and material availability.
  • Identify and elevate material shortages and supply constraints.
  • Review upcoming schedules against inventory to identify potential shortages.
  • Assist in establishing inventory levels and planning parameters using historical usage and lead times.
  • Prepare and present daily and weekly production reports; analyze data to identify constraints and improve planning.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, inventory optimization, schedule adherence, and customer service.
  • Track key metrics: schedule adherence, on-time completion, backorders, capacity, downtime, recovery performance.
  • Identify recurring scheduling, material, or communication issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Assist in improving production flow, reducing downtime, and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Ensure activities comply with policies, quality standards, safety requirements.
  • Identify and communicate issues to appropriate teams.
  • Support a safe, organized production environment through planning and communication.
  • Coordinate with QA when quality issues affect schedules.
  • Escalate production risks with sufficient information for decision-making.
