Summary
Ensures maximum profitability of the producing plant by developing and executing short-term and long-term operating and maintenance plans; establishes standards of performance and enforces compliance with Company rules, policies, and procedures. Supports development of a culture of continuous improvement and acts as a mentor to help team members reach the next level of responsibility.
Duties And Responsibilities May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinates implementation and execution of all health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
- Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls.
- On a regular basis, mentor, counsel/coach supervisors on best methods to achieve the operation’s goals for safety, human resources, quality, and production.
- Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
- Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
- Develops a collaborative environment by engaging employee input to improve manufacturing performance, safety, product quality, cost control, productivity, and environmental protection.
- Plans, develops, and implements methods to meet departmental and company goals within agreed upon budgets and timeframes.
- Implements a data-driven culture to balance competing interests to make logical and timely decisions.
- Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
- Oversees and coordinates recruitment and new hire process to maintain required staffing and maintains employee training programs.
- Works with management on succession planning by identifying individual development needs for team members.
- Oversees and coordinates raw material, in-process, and finished goods inventory control processes and reconciliations to ensure accurate inventories, timely movements of materials, and accurate measurements of material usage.
- Directs the activities of each department through superintendents who are responsible for producing effective results within their area of responsibilities to ensure optimum product quality, availability, and line efficiency.
- Maintains a safe working environment for all employees and ensures that employees follow established safety rules to achieve the goal of zero injuries.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt Certification required.
- 5 - 7 years supervisory/management experience in a 24-hour-a-day manufacturing operation.
- Demonstrated capability in planning, organizing, implementing, and measuring programs and projects; strong problem-solving, analytical, and computer skills.
- Must have the ability to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels, be proactive and an innovator.
- Demonstrated capability to initiate and lead change in a manufacturing environment and drive success.
- Demonstrated empathetic people management skills and balanced approach to problem-solving.
- Working knowledge of statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods.
