Job summary

Russel Metals in Cambridge, ON is seeking a Production Scheduler to manage the production schedule from the office and the plant. You will create and maintain daily, weekly and long-term schedules by analyzing raw materials availability, order volumes, labour, and capacity.

You will collaborate with Production, Sales and Shipping to ensure on-time shipments, resolve bottlenecks, and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in production scheduling or planning.
  • Experience with ERP and MRP systems (Metalware).
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Detail oriented with ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the production schedule from the office and the plant.
  • Communicate and carry out the production plan.
  • Create and maintain daily, weekly and long-term schedules considering materials, orders, labour and capacity.
  • Help resolve bottlenecks and suggest continuous improvement ideas.
  • Support on-time shipment by identifying alternative actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sales and Shipping to meet customer service needs.
  • Coordinate with operators and material handlers.
  • Utilize off-cuts and damaged material for processing opportunities.
  • Develop and manage KPIs (KPIs).
  • Demonstrate ownership and customer service mindset.

We are currently seeking a motivated and results oriented individual for the position ofProduction Schedulerwithin ourCambridge, ONBranch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage the production schedule from both the office and the plant;
  • Ensure the plan in place is communicated and carried out;
  • Create and maintain daily, weekly and long-term production schedules by analyzing the availability of raw materials, order volumes, labour availability and production capacity requirements;
  • Assist in resolving production capacity bottlenecks and constraints, and suggest continuous improvement ideas to increase efficiency;
  • Assist in determining alternative actions to maintain on-time shipment schedules;
  • Collaboration with Production, Sales and Shipping to ensure customer service requirements are met;
  • Liaison with production operators and material handlers;
  • Utilize off-cuts and damaged material for processing opportunities;
  • Assist with the development, implementation and management of key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Display a sense of ownership and responsibility and exhibit a customer service mentality toward supporting customers.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in production scheduling or planning (preferred);
  • Previous experience with ERP and MRP systems; Metalware;
  • Highly proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Detail oriented and able to effectively manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary range: $50,000 - $58,000
