Collins Aerospace in Ottawa is a leader in wireless communications networking, developing products like high-data-rate HF/VHF/UHF modems, SCRN, and Software Defined Radio waveforms. We seek a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team, working under technical leadership in an individual contributor role.

What You Will Do

• Provide engineering leadership interfacing with Customers, Business Development, and Program Managers.
• Drive pursuits and prepare technical proposals for RFIs and RFPs.
• Provide technical direction aligned with business goals.
• Interface with customers to determine project requirements.
• Track and analyze earned value metrics, recommend staffing or schedule adjustments, and report performance.
• Develop and execute program plans ensuring projects stay within budget, schedule, and meet requirements.
• Serve as technical point of contact for medium to high complexity programs.
• Lead proposal efforts and represent the company to customers when needed.
• Travel up to 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Canadian Citizenship and eligible for a Canadian secret security clearance.
• Experience in Data Communications and networking design and implementation.
• Understanding of RF communications system architecture.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with Military and Commercial Avionics Communications systems.
• Knowledge of ad-hoc networking, encryption, cryptographic architectures, data-link protocols, and analysis/modeling/simulation.
