Qualus is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead substation projects in Canada, with senior technical authority from concept through commissioning. You will mentor teams, shape design standards, and build strong client relationships while delivering high-quality substation solutions.

This role supports transmission and distribution projects across 12 kV to 735 kV, coordinating with cross-disciplinary teams and acting as a key technical interface for clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• P.Eng. in Canada (BC or eligible).
• 20+ years in transmission and distribution engineering with substation design.
• Experience as technical authority / PoR on complex substation projects.
• Expertise in substation design: layouts, grounding, bus design, insulation coordination, station service.
• Knowledge of CSA C22.1, IEEE, IEC and OH&S.
• Ability to mentor across multiple projects.
• Experience supporting BD, client engagement, and proposals is a plus.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Strong problem-solving and engineering judgment.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the senior technical authority for electrical substation projects ranging from 12 kV to 735 kV.
• Act as Professional-of-Record (PoR) ensuring design deliverables' accuracy and compliance.
• Provide leadership for substation design activities including layouts, grounding, and equipment integration.
• Lead development and approval of key deliverables like one-lines, layouts, grounding studies.
• Provide technical oversight for complex engineering studies (grounding, insulation coordination, bus design).
• Develop and approve design criteria, specifications, reports, and construction packages.
• Interface with clients, utilities, and stakeholders for engineering advice and development initiatives.
• Lead workshops and design reviews, and mentor engineers and designers.
