Job summary

Qualus is hiring a Senior Engineer, Substations in Vancouver, BC. The role leads high‑voltage substation design from conception to construction in a hybrid work setting. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with P.Eng. or eligibility in BC.
• 8–12 years of substation electrical experience in utility or EPC.
• Experience interfacing across substation disciplines (structural, protection & control).
• Strong knowledge of CSA, NESC, and ANSI/IEEE standards.
• Field experience with outage planning, commissioning, and construction sequencing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design for 12 kV to 500 kV projects from concept to construction.
• Develop diagrams, layouts, grounding details, and routing plans.
• Prepare and review specifications and inspection procedures.
• Draft project scope, estimates, budgets, and change notices.
• Monitor progress, manage costs, and coordinate activities.
• Review design docs with Owner’s Engineer to meet requirements.
• Coordinate with procurement for material take-offs and orders.
• Liaise with utility clients and contractors on site activities.
• Produce as-builts, calculations, and data for clients.
• Travel to sites and mentor junior engineers and designers.
