Job summary

Paladin Airport Security Services Ltd. is hiring Pre-Board Screening Officers for Prince Rupert Airport (YPR). You will screen passengers and baggage, operate security equipment, and provide professional service while upholding regulations.

Applicants should have excellent customer service, be able to work varied shifts, and meet CATSA medical requirements. Training is provided; successful candidates will obtain full certification and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills; fluency in French is an asset.
• Ability to comply with CATSA medical requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Current resident of Prince Rupert or surrounding areas.

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do?

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by:

• Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints
• Scanning and testing baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniques
• Providing customer service professionally and with integrity
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance
• Protecting restricted areas
• Managing conflict
• Communicating clearly and effectively

You’ll received paid training at $21.97/hour , increasing to $25.03/hour after successful completion of training and full certification. You’ll also receive comprehensive benefits and a great uniform!

What You Bring:

• Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) year
• Open availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset
• Ability to comply with the CATSA medical requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Current resident of Prince Rupert, or the surrounding areas

This position will be based at Prince Rupert Airport (YPR). Work hours will reflect opening hours of the airport, from early morning to evening, and including weekend and holidays.

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which must be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
