Job summary

Paladin Airport Security Services is seeking a Pre-Board Screening Officer to ensure safe and smooth travel experiences at Kelowna International Airport (YLW). You will screen passengers and baggage, handle security procedures, and maintain high standards of service and integrity.

The role requires strong English skills, flexibility to work varied shifts, and eligibility for CATSA medical requirements. French is a plus, with a paid training program and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment.
• Open availability to work any shift as required by airport operations.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset.
• Ability to comply with CATSA medical requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do?

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by:

• Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints
• Scanning and testing baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniques
• Providing customer service professionally and with integrity
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance
• Protecting restricted areas
• Managing conflict
• Communicating clearly and effectively
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance

You will receive paid training at $24.97/hour , increasing to $27.47/hour after successful completion of training and full certification. You’ll also receive comprehensive benefits and a great uniform!

What You Bring:

• Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) year
• Open availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset
• Ability to comply with the CATSA medical requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

This position will be based at Kelowna International Airport (YLW). Work hours will reflect opening hours of the airport, from early morning to evening, and including weekend and holidays.

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which much be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
