Job summary

Paladin Airport Security Services at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is seeking Pre-Board Screening Officers to screen passengers and baggage, operate X-ray and metal detectors, and uphold safety and customer service standards in a busy, international terminal.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, excellent communication skills in English (French is a plus), and be available for all shifts in a 24/7/365 operation; successful applicants will undergo paid training and receive

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do?

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by:

• Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints
• Scanning and testing baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniques
• Providing information professionally and with integrity
• Protecting restricted areas
• Managing conflict
• Communicating clearly and effectively
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance

You will receive paid training $26.65/hour , increasing to $29.10/hour following the successful completion of training and full certification.

What You Bring:

• Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) year
• Open availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. 24/7/365 environment.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset
• Ability to comply with the CATSA medical requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Work Hours: These are 24/7 positions, candidates are required to have full availability to work any shift assigned.

Schedule is bid by union seniority, shifts may be early morning, afternoon, or overnight (graveyard) shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.

This position is fully based at Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which much be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
