Power BI Developer
Location: Vaughan, ON (Hybrid – 1 day per week in office) Type: 6-Month Contract with Possible Extension
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with strong design skills to join our team. This role requires expertise in modern visualization tools, with a focus on the Microsoft stack and integration of advanced data streams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and support of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Design and implement advanced visualization tools, dashboards, and Proof of Concepts (POCs) leveraging modern data streams such as Event Hubs, Kafka, Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Utilize Power BI and Tableau to create impactful and intuitive data visualizations.
- Define and gather business requirements to develop web-based reports and dashboards that enhance decision-making.
- Ensure seamless data integration between Power BI and backend data sources.
- Oversee multiple projects, ensuring proper documentation and testing throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for visualization tools.
- Conduct strategic data analysis, translating complex insights into actionable recommendations.
- Work closely with stakeholders to validate data and refine reporting solutions.
- Support automation efforts, assisting in environment setup and permission configurations.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), pre-deployment planning, and post-deployment support.
Qualifications:
- 7–10 years of experience in visualization tools, with a strong focus on Microsoft Power BI and Tableau.
- Proven expertise in data integration and cloud platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, AWS, GCP).
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI Dataflows, Power Query, and Azure Data Factory.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, DAX, T‑SQL, GraphQL, PromQL, and KQL for efficient data querying and transformation.
- Experience in data validation processes, including creating test plans and executing test cycles.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and SDLC best practices.
- Ability to design visually appealing and user‑friendly dashboards with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent documentation skills for requirements gathering and process flow diagrams.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
- Experience with collaboration tools like Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams.
- Understanding of open‑source data tools such as Apache Kafka and Apache Spark.
- Awareness of emerging trends in data visualization and analytics.
