• Duration: Fixed-term contract to June 2027
• Employment Type: Full time or part-time (3-5 days per week considered)

This role is based in Australia.

• Remuneration: Level A: $88,290 - $117,718; Level B: $123,620 - $145,730; Level C: $150,148 + 17% superannuation

Working closely with Scientia Professor Ross Buckley, one of the most extensively cited FinTech scholars globally, you’ll contribute to the research efforts of the UNSW Law & Justice Faculty (School of Private & Commercial Law) by undertaking independent and team research on Professor Buckley's ARC Laureate Research Program titled “The Financial Data Revolution: Seizing the Benefits, Controlling the Risks”.

We welcome applications from candidates with Level A, B, or up to Level C (step 1) experience for this position.

About You

You will have the following skills and experience for Level A:

• A first degree in law.
• A PhD in Law, Economics, Finance, Political Science, or a related field, or equivalent research/professional experience (e.g., banking, finance, or technology law).
• Strong research capacity and experience exploring law and policy interactions.
• Ability to conduct independent qualitative and empirical research.
• A record of high-quality publications and conference presentations.
• Strong organizational skills, including coordinating research activities and meeting deadlines.

Level B and C candidates (beyond Level A) should also demonstrate:

• Commitment to discipline developments.
• High-quality research outcomes.
• A desire and ability to achieve research excellence.
• Industry or professional involvement (desirable).
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and build relationships.
• Capability to maintain governance and ethics standards in research.

This position can be fractional at 0.8 or 0.6 FTE.
