Job summary

Cascades is seeking a Plant Manager in Calgary to lead operations with a strong emphasis on safety, profitability, and people development. You will drive strategic initiatives, oversee safety and labour relations in a unionized setting, and guide a team of Supervisory and Management staff to deliver high performance.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, LEAN expertise, and experience with SAP/PowerBI; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years manufacturing leadership experience.
• LEAN principles knowledge (5S, Kaizen, RCA, CI) is an asset.
• Experience with SAP, PowerBI and MS Office is beneficial.

Your Role

As Plant Manager, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential. Your scope includes:

• Ensure that a plant wide safety program is in place and that all employees are carrying out their responsibilities as described
• Participate in accident and incident investigations and corrective actions are taken to prevent hazardous conditions and/or behaviors
• Provide oversight and strategic direction to meet organizational objectives and ensure the fiscal health of the business unit.
• Develop business strategies to support the operational functions and ensure profitability.
• Development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes safety, quality, continuous improvement, retention, employee development and high performance.
• Foster positive labour relations by working collaboratively within a unionized environment and ensuring compliance with the collective agreement.
• Display exemplary leadership to support a team of direct reports comprised of Supervisory and Management staff, and all other office and plant personnel

What you bring

You're a natural fit for Plant Manager if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or Engineering preferred
• A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership role.
• Prior experience in the paper industry or other manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment, including the application and interpretation of collective agreements and labour relations practices, is strongly preferred
• Experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is an asset
• Experienced with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.), SAP, PowerBI and other Data Visualisation tools
