The ideal candidate holds a PharmD or BSc in Pharmacy with ACP registration, clinical experience, and a passion for teaching.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The School of Health and Wellness at RDP is currently inviting applications for a full-time probationary continuous Instructor position in the Pharmacy Technician program, commencing December 9th 2026. The Pharmacy Technician program is a two-year diploma that prepares the graduate to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) following graduation and successful completion of the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) certification process and the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) registration process.

Our program has a reputation for being a premier program in the province and has become the industry standard for Pharmacy Technicians. It is accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP).

The Pharmacy Technician program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship and commitment to student success. Position Responsibilities

• Teaching students in classroom and/or lab settings with flexibility for both face to face and online course delivery.
• Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment.
• Preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material.
• Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
• Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
• Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, project work, and scholarly activity.
• Participating in School and Polytechnic wide initiatives and/or committees.
• Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy.
• Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
• Current registration as a Pharmacist with Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)
• Current/Recent clinical / practical experience
• Excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
• Passion for teaching, ability to inspire students, and commitment to student learning and success
• Ability to work effectively in a variety of team environments
• Proven commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice
• All applicable areas of expertise and specialization will be considered; however, we are especially interested in applicants with both hospital and community pharmacy experience, experience preparing sterile and non-sterile products, and sterile product preparation certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional experience and education in the field.
• Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.
• Master’s Degree completion or in progress preferred.

Continuous Probationary:

• Receive 45 days of paid vacation annually in addition to paid time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year
