Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy Inc. in Sooke, BC is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. The position supports pharmacists and technicians, handles prescriptions entry and patient care, and helps with inventory and clerical tasks.

The successful candidate will have pharmacy assistant training or experience, strong communication skills, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Benefits include paid vacation and health/dental coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy is an asset.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Proficient with Kroll and accurate prescription data entry.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Kroll software.
• Ability to stand long periods and occasional lifting.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Basic understanding of medications (names, forms, common uses).
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• The store operates Mondays and Thursday between 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• 32 - 40 hours per week.
• Scheduled shifts will fall within these hours.
