Job summary

Pharmasave #296 in Sooke, British Columbia is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. You will support pharmacists, assist with prescriptions, answer customer inquiries, and help with daily pharmacy operations in a collaborative setting.

The ideal candidate has retail pharmacy experience or completion of a pharmacy assistant program, strong communication, and good organizational skills. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is appreciated.

Job description

Pharmasave #296 is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Sooke, British Columbia.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Basic understanding of medications (names, forms, common uses).
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is an asset
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry is an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Kroll pharmacy software
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Schedule

• The store operates Mondays and Thursday between 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• 32 - 40 hours per week.
• Scheduled shifts will fall within these hours.
